I was fishing with a friend on the Mississippi River near Alma, Wisconsin, last week. We caught a limit of large yellow perch in the backwaters away from the traffic on the main channel. Even though the river is bounded by highways and railroad tracks on either side, itâs a wild area with beautiful views of the water, floodplain forest and bluffs.Â
