As part of their 2022-2023 Final Report, the Lake County Civil Grand Jury conducted a review of school shootings noting the causes, effects, and increases while offering several recommendations for local law enforcement and school districts to adapt in order to create safer schools.
The Lake County Civil Grand Jury conducted a review of the “Coroner’s Procedures for the Indigent and Unidentified” as part of their 2022-2023 review. In this review they addressed both the department’s strengths and its weaknesses concluding with a basic solution to help minimize those weaknesses.
Despite Lake County’s Point in Time (PIT) Count for 2023 not yet being published publicly, the increased need for homeless services is very apparent to county officials, struggling to keep their emergency shelter, located at 1111 Whalen Way in Lakeport, open. It is currently one of two homeless shelters operating in the county.
