SD Tech College Grads Land Good Paying Jobs

The Board of Technical Education got a report on placements and salaries at their meeting last week. Deputy Executive Director Scott DesLauriers says they tracked those who graduated in 2019 and 2020… DesLauriers says they figured an average starting pay for those graduates.. DesLauriers says they also found most graduates stay in their field of study… The board oversees and coordinates classes at Lake Area Tech in Watertown, Mitchell Tech, Southeast Tech in Sioux Falls and Western Dakota Tech in Rapid City. MacKenzie Scott donates $1 5 million to South Dakota charities

KNBN NewsCenter1 December 17, 2020 SEATTLE MacKenzie Scott, philanthropist, author and former wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, says she has given away $4.1 billion in the past four months to hundreds of organizations as part of a giving pledge she announced last year. She has donated $1.5 million to Meals on Wheels, as well as donations to Lake Area Tech & Mitchell Tech. Scott announced her pandemic-era philanthropy in a Medium post Tuesday, writing that the pandemic has substantially increased the wealth of billionaires. Scott says she asked a team of advisers to help her “accelerate” her 2020 giving with immediate help to those financially gutted by the pandemic.

Lake Area Technical College Receives Significant Impact Gift from Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott

South Dakota’s nationally recognized colleges Lake Area Technical College of Watertown and Mitchell Technical College of Mitchell say they are honored to be the recipients of significant impact gifts from philanthropist and popular novelist, MacKenzie Scott.   The announcement, made through social media, states that 384 organizations including Lake Area Technical College and Mitchell Technical College received generous donations to assist in continuing the good work they are already doing.  The colleges will be using the donation to support transformative initiatives that will remove barriers for students and allow them the success everyone deserves.
