Gov. Josh Green, M.D. signed Senate Bill 582 into law on Thursday, allocating $385.4 million in emergency appropriations to support relief efforts on Maui, following the Aug. 8, 2023 wildfires. This funding package includes provisions to assist efforts by the state and the County of Maui to support families and individuals impacted by the August 2023 wildfires, as well as bolstering the state’s One ʻOhana Fund.
The County of Maui filed a third-party complaint on Wednesday, May 1 in the Circuit Court of the Second Circuit, State of Hawaiʻi, against Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile US, Spectrum Mobile, and AT&T related to the August 2023 Maui wildfires.
Reyn Spooner raised more than $15,000 for the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund on Lahaina Sailor Day on April 7, 2024. This recent effort brings the total contributions from the aloha wear company and its dedicated customers to more than $120,000 for disaster relief and recovery following the devastating wildfires in Maui.
As Lahaina transitions into a new phase of recovery, HI-EMA is pleased to announce the relocation of the DRC to the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa at 200 Nohea Kai Drive, effective Monday, April 29. In addition, HI-EMA is introducing the new Community Resources Center at the Royal Lahaina Resort.
The County of Maui Office of Recovery and Department of Planning will hold a neighborhood planning workshop for Wahikuli residents to share their thoughts on topics specific to the area with county staff from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Lahainaluna High School Cafeteria.
