In its efforts to take the sport to the grassroots, the Lagos State Judo Association has concluded plans to take the sport to schools.
LSJA chairman Sheriff Hammed said it was part of the new board’s plan to popularise the sport in the state, with the aim of attracting young people to the sport.
“This is actually a journey because the new board wants to ensure we take judo to schools across the five divisions of Lagos State and educate the students on the rudiments of the sport,” Hammed said.
“For us, grassroots remains the bedrock of sports development and with the support we have been enjoying from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu through the Lagos State Sports Commission, our focus is to grow the sport as there are more talents that abound in Lagos.”

Following the successful seminar for women judokas, the Lagos State Judo Association (LSJA) is aiming to encourage females to take up the sport for self-defense in society.
Speaking at the one-day seminar organized by LSJA in collaboration with Tinubu Support Group (TSG) at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Complex, Rowe Park, the chairman of LSJA, Sheriff Hammed said the aim of the seminar was to woo more women to the sports in their effort to popularize the sport as well as using the sport as a form of self-defense amidst the security challenges bedeviling the country.

Following the staging of a successful seminar for women, the Lagos State Judo Association is aiming to bring in more females to take up the sport for self-defence in the state.
Speaking at the one-day seminar organised by LSJA, in collaboration with Tinubu Support Organisation, at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Complex, Rowe Park, LSJA chairman, Sheriff Hammed, said the aim of the seminar was to involve more women, in their efforts to popularise the sport.
“This seminar is part of our efforts to revive judo in Lagos and we are using the seminar and judo exhibition to create awareness about violence and sexual harassment against women because of what is happening around the society,” Hammed said.

The Lagos State Judo Association (LSJA) is organizing a one-day seminar cum enlightenment programme for female youths in the state as part of efforts to popularize the sport.
According to the chairman of LSJA, Sheriff Hammed, the essence of the seminar is aimed at promoting self-defense among females in the state.
“With the spate of rape, robbery, kidnappings, and general violence against women, the Lagos State Judo Association has partnered with the Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO) Lagos Chapter to raise awareness of rape in our society and promote self-defense amongst the youth by engaging them in judo.
