Pro-democracy activist Adeola Soetan has condemned the move of Nigeria Police to forcibly take a blood sample from the detained Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti for testing. The police in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, had asked the Chief Magistrate of Yaba Court to allow them forcibly draw Seun Kuti’s blood for testing. This comes as the police frantically search for evidence to nail the musician for another crime.
Human rights and pro-democracy group, Take It Back Movement (TIB) has urged the Nigerian Police Force to comply with the court ruling by releasing the Afrobeat Musician, Seun Kuti from detention. The group stated this on Saturday, while demanding that the Nigerian police should stop all prosecution against Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti. “@PoliceNG should comply with orders of the court granting bail to Seun Kuti. Stop the persecution. #FreeSeunKutiNow!” the group wrote on Twitter.
The Lagos State Chief Magistrate in Yaba Court, Mrs Adeola Olatunbosun, has amended her order and granted the Nigeria Police Force’s request to conduct a drug test on Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, all in a bid to find incriminating evidence on him. SaharaReporters learnt that the Chief Magistrate inserted a drug test order in her ruling while writing the order.
