On Saturday June 4, 2022, Mr. Zakari Umaru-Kigbu, a former Federal Commissioner with the National Population Commission in Nassarawa State was shot dead before his family members in the Azuba Bashayi, Lafia North Development Area in Lafia Local Government Area of the State by suspected assasins. He was also a campaign agent to Mr. Labaran Makua former Minister of Information and ex-governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Nasarawa State.

Lafia (Nasarawa State), Feb. 9, 2021 (NAN) Alhaji Mohammed Alkali, representing Lafia North Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has donated N1.3 million to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the constituency.
Alkali, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, donated the money during a meeting with stakeholders in the constituency in Lafia on Monday.
The lawmaker, who was represented by a former Chairman of Lafia North Development Area, Mr Salisu Murtala, said that the money was aimed at supporting the party’s registration/revalidation exercise.
According to him, the donation is for mobilisation and transport fare to ensure the success of the exercise in the constituency.
