Fayette County has made progress in 2020 on the new prison project, a new business park expansion and improving life in the county, according to the county commissioners.
âA positive thing to us is obtaining the funding for the new prison in 2020,â said Commissioner Dave Lohr.
What made funding for the project so significant was instead of getting a bond issued, the commissioners obtained a loan from the United State Department of Agriculture, with nearly 2% interest locked down on the loan.
âThat saved the county $25 million over the life of the loan,â said Commissioner Vincent Vicites. âThatâs a tremendous savings.â
