MH gets swept in non-conference finales at Jonesboro

The Mountain Home High School basketball teams wrapped up non-conference play on a rough note Saturday, as they were swept at Jonesboro. The evening began with the Lady Bombers falling to the Lady Hurricane 62-39. Jonesboro jumped out early on Mountain Home ending the first quarter with a 17-3 lead. As the game continued, the Lady Hurricane inched further away from the Lady Bombers, as they went on to post the 23-point win. Kate Gilbert led Mountain Home with 16 points, and Addison Yates added 10. For Jonesboro, Ereauna Hardaway scored 20 points, and Lakiya Scott chipped in 13. The Lady Bombers fall to 1-10 on the season. The Lady Hurricane improves to 8-3.

MHHS to play non-conference finales at Jonesboro

High school basketball is scheduled for Saturday, as Mountain Home will play its non-conference games of the regular season. It will be the first of four consecutive road trips for the Bombers and Lady Bombers, as they head to Jonesboro. Mountain Home’s girls are 1-9 on the season after falling to West Memphis on Tuesday. Jonesboro fell to 7-3 following a loss at North Little Rock. This will be the second meeting between the two teams, with the Lady Bombers falling to the Lady Hurricane on Dec. 22. The Mountain Home boys have a record of 4-4. The Bombers are coming off a 12-point loss to West Memphis. Jonesboro is 4-3 on the year. The Golden Hurricane fell to North Little Rock in overtime on Tuesday.

MHHS girls comeback attempt falls short with loss to Jonesboro

The rally came up short for the Mountain Home High School girls’ basketball team on Tuesday. The Lady Bombers ended up getting edged out by Jonesboro 41-38. The Lady Hurricane jumped out early with an 11-1 lead, but Mountain Home came back with the margin at four at halftime. The Lady Bombers started the second half by making it a one-point game on a three-pointer by Annie Norcross, but Jonesboro responded by scoring the next nine to go back up double digits. Mountain Home made another comeback eventually cutting the deficit back to three. The Lady Hurricane’s Ereauna Hardaway was fouled on their last offensive possession with 2.9 seconds left. She missed the front end of a one-and-one, and Norcross got the rebound and threw the ball to Kate Gilbert near the half court line. Gilbert tried one last heave to tie the game, but her shot was blocked, and the clock soon hit zero.
