Lady Giants fall to Lady Panthers

CANTON-The Canton Lady Giants matched up well with the Lady Panthers of Washington in the first quarter of this game. But it was the second quarter that things changed as the Lady Giants shot poorly, combined with a 10-0 Washington run, and it was lights out for Jessica Jones and her Lady Giant team as they went on to a 49-22 defeat. The loss drops Canton to 3-6 on the season.
Ashley Groves started the game for Canton with a free throw. Shortly after, Katie Smith got one in the paint, was fouled, and then proceeded to hit the free throw. Groves then gave Canton the quick 7-2 lead with a long three. The Lady Giants lost that lead as they went on a long dry spell from the floor. After two free throws from Claire McDougall gave Washington the 8-7 lead Ellie Downing got the lead back for Canton with a short jumper. But it was Washington who would get the final four points of the quarter for the 12-9 lead.
