Photo taken by Veda Dharwar A heightened awareness of the climate crisis has precipitated the introduction of measures that encourage everyone to become involved in making an individual difference to the environment. Although the problem must be addressed on a wider, global scale as well as on a small scale through individuals and groups, changing attitudes and practices towards protecting the environment on this smaller scale can still promote genuine change. Earth hour on the 27th of March for instance was a gesture of solidarity, and just one of the many initiatives that happened to attract media attention. Fairtrade Fortnight was another of these initiatives, lasting from the 22nd of February to the 7th of March.
