Housebound UK homeowners are on a quest to perfect their homes, as Britons spent billions on renovations in 2020.
Households spent an average of £2,608 on home improvements last year, up £391 or 15 per cent on 2019, according to a survey of 2,000 homeowners by the online tradesman directory Checkatrade.
If every owner-occupied household spent that much, it would amount to a huge £39billion.
According to Checkatrade, Londoners spent the most money on renovating or converting a space into a home office, spending on average £621 per household to do so
In total, 79 per cent of homeowners said there was room for improvement in their homes.
