Fatima repeats as Class 3 state softball champion

SPRINGFIELD The Fatima Lady Comets came back from a nine-run deficit to win last year’s state championship. So when they faced a two-run deficit against the St. Francis Borgia Lady Knights, the Lady Comets acted like they had been there before and handled it like a walk in the park. Fatima only trailed for a few minutes Friday, scoring 12 unanswered runs and cruising to a 12-2 victory in five innings to claim its second straight Class 3 state title at Killian Softball Complex.

Robertson's homer lifts Fatima past Blair Oaks for district title

If the Fatima Lady Comets have shown anything this season, it’s they are capable of finding power hitting anywhere in their lineup, Nos. 1-9. It was Kristen Robertson’s time to shine Tuesday night. The junior third baseman drove the first pitch she saw in the bottom of the fourth inning over the left-field fence for a three-run home run. That blast was the difference in a 4-1 victory against the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons in the Class 3 District 5 Tournament championship game at Southern Boone High School.
