SOUTH BEND â Nearly six months after the U.S. Senate confirmed Amy Coney Barrett for the Supreme Court, she and her husband, Jesse Barrett, are selling their Harter Heights home so the family can move to the Washington, D.C., area.
Jesse Barrett said he and the coupleâs seven children plan to join Amy in the Washington area in time for the start of the coming school year.
He said it wasnât always a certainty that the family would sell their brick, six-bedroom, 4,232-square-foot home on Peashway Street.
âOur life has been here for 19 years,â he said. âOur kids are rooted here. I wouldnât say we had a definite plan of what would happen if Amy was confirmed, but weâre at a stage where it seems like selling the house is what makes the most sense for whatâs best for our family.â
