The gas leak that prompted an evacuation order for Mille Lacs Island Resort has been fixed.
In an afternoon update, the Mille Lacs County Sheriff s Office said the leak caused by a cut gas line was resolved, and gas service was restored. Everyone can return to their homes on Mille Lacs Island Resort, the update said.
The sheriff s office also apologized again for sending the evacuation order out further than intended. Residents in several nearby counties received an Emergency Alert System notification telling them, falsely, they needed to evacuate.
