The criticism of Boris has mutated: it’s now unfair
The PM has got plenty wrong, but suggesting he’s filled with malign intent is conspiratorial nonsense

Well, that’s it: we’re back in the jug again. Here in Kent we’re looking forward to what I anticipate will be weeks and weeks of Tier 4 lockdown, no going out, no friends, no Christmas. You think you’ve got it tough: I don’t drink. Plus the central heating is making a suspicious noise. If she blows between now and April, we’re doomed.
People are angry at the prime minister and that’s par for the course. Prime ministers are only popular twice: when they are elected (“a breath of fresh air”) and about three months after they leave office (“I do miss old so and so”). In-between they can do nothing right, and if anyone knows the rules of the game, it’s Boris “PM Killer” Johnson.
