President Uhuru Kenyatta has signed into law a bill that grants government powers to access mobile phone data from people suspected of being spies for foreign powers.
The Statute Law (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill, 2020, allows Interior Cabinet Secretary powers to spy on one s phone after seeking the permission of the court.
According to a statement released by State House on Friday, December 11, the Statute Law effectively amended 21 statutes among them the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, Records Disposal Act, Penal Code, Public Holidays Act and Firearms Act.
