"Once in a generation moment" discussed in ILR webinar

May 11, 2021 Former U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez joined Cornell ILR School Dean Alexander Colvin, Ph.D. ’99, on Monday for the latest installment of the eCornell series, “The Future of Work: Labor in America.” The event, “The PRO Act: Upending the Labor Landscape,” was moderated by Cathy Creighton ’87, director of ILR’s Buffalo Co-Lab, and touched on the first 100 days of the Biden presidency, the rise and fall of union membership, and the proposed Protecting the Right to Organize Act. If passed by the U.S. Senate, the bill would expand collective bargaining rights for workers and reform labor law in ways unseen in decades.
