WASHINGTON, D.C. Washington Senator Patty Murray and others reintroduced legislation to provide students two free years of community college.
The ‘America’s College Promise Act’ aims to create federal and state partnerships to get people two years of tuition-free access to community or technical college programs, as well as two years of tuition and fee grant aid at a four-year historical Black college or minority-serving institution.
The goal is to remove the socio-economic barriers of skills, credentials and a degree that many families face.

Angry over the high costs of prescription drugs?
House Democrats campaigned on reducing drug costs when they won their majority in 2018. So did Joe Biden during his successful bid for president in 2020.
On Thursday, Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. and other House committee chairs once again introduced legislation designed to lower drug costs after seeing a similar effort fall short when Republicans controlled the Senate.
And the New Jersey Democrat said he would add the drug cost provision when his committee drafts part of Biden’s next big initiative: The American Families Plan to increase federal funding for education, child care programs and other social programs. Biden plans to outline that plan before Congress on Wednesday.
