ANNAPOLIS — The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is appealing its recently dismissed challenge to the Maryland Department of the Environment’s issuance of a wastewater permit for the Lakeside at Trappe development.
The Maryland Department of the Environment gave final approval for the small Eastern Shore town of Trappe to spray treated wastewater on nearby fields, which could clear the way for a scaled-down expansion plan.
The tiny Eastern Shore community of Trappe voted two decades ago to annex more than 900 acres so a developer could build some 2,500 homes. That vision is starting to become reality, but it's meeting with opposition from residents and environmentalists.
