Recently, the Languedoc-Roussillon region has become a solid go-to for bargain wines. Value is about much more than a cheap price, of course. Besides being France’s largest wine region, at 215,000ha, this is one of its most exciting with a great diversity of grape varieties, terroir and winemaking styles; a heady mix of tradition and innovation; and an ongoing gear change from quantity to quality.
