Melcher-Dallas Kynser Reed Will Attend Central | KNIA KRLS Radio

After having a successful career at Melcher-Dallas, Senior Kynser Reed will be attending Central College to play softball. Reed through four seasons for the Saints has a .380 average with 24 doubles, nine home runs, and 78 RBI. She also is part of a Melcher-Dallas team that has won 74 games over her three seasons. Reed says that she chose Central because of the proximity to home. Reed’s final softball season with Melcher-Dallas begins May 24 at Adair-Casey. Twin Cedars And Melcher-Dallas Net All-BGC Picks

The Bluegrass Conference has released its all-conference selections and the two Marion County schools were represented. Twin Cedars has announced that two players from the boys basketball squad have made all-Bluegrass Conference this season. Earning 2nd team was Devin Arkema. Arkema was the Sabers’ leading scorer at 15.7 points per game, had a nearly 70% free throw average, pulled down 83 rebounds and led the team in steals with 24. Earning honorable mention was Kade Dunkin. He averaged 10.9 points per contest and came up with 22 steals. The Sabers finished with a record of 7-10 and finished 9th in the Bluegrass Conference. Three Twin Cedars Girls Basketball Players earned either 1st, 2nd or honorable mention all-Bluegrass Conference this season. Earning 1st team honors was Brooke Roby. She was an unanimous pick averaging 12.7 points per game, she was also the team’s second leading rebounder at 125 this season and was tops on the team with 58 steals and 25 blocked shots.

  Leading the way for Melcher-Dallas in scoring was Senior Kynser Reed, who averaged over 12 points per game while also hauling down seven rebounds per game. The Saints’ top rebounder was Hailey Hoch, who averaged just under nine rebounds per game to go with her ten points a game. Melcher-Dallas’ top three-point shooter was Senior Haley Godfrey, who shot 31.5% from beyond the arc.   Next year, Melcher-Dallas will have a completely new starting lineup as Reed, Godfrey, Grace Overgaard, and Kacey and Riley Enfield all will be graduating. Hailey Hoch will also hope to come back 100% healthy as she missed the second half of the season with a torn ACL.

Melcher-Dallas Prepare for Rebuilding Next Year

  The Saints had an up-and-down season this year, which included a COVID-19 shutdown, four players sitting out in the second half of the season, but also a stretch where they won seven of eight games. Leading the way for Melcher-Dallas this season was Kynser Reed, who averaged 12 points and seven rebounds. Also graduating from Melcher-Dallas is Haley Godfrey, Grace Overgaard, and Kacey and Riley Enfield.   Melcher-Dallas will be returning top rebounder Hailey Hoch, who had five games of ten rebounds or more. Hoch missed the second half of the season with a torn ACL.
