points at another target, pulls the trigger, another target, he pulls the trigger. it s not rapid-fire like there s a crowd of people and he just keeps pulling the trigger into the crowd. he s aiming. that doesn t mean he s really using the sites, but he s pointing the gun and shooting at each individual person. then the people start to run. and, you know, he may be moving as well. the shooter may be, you know, actively walking around. and there s, you know, a little delay. maybe he s trying to find another target. and he s shooting. and people are escaping. and, you know, it s hard to count the exact number of rounds. i think you talked about it earlier. maybe 12, maybe 14. we don t know if that s all that were fired. a pistol can have magazines easily capable of shooting 15 rounds, 16, even more. so it could be one magazine and we have a report that the shooter is dead. we ll see if the sheriff confirms that. so he could have committed suicide afterward. we don t know, though.
to. again, that video purportedly representing the moment that the shots were made by the shooter. the suspect there want to bring in retired atf special agent in charge and msnbc contributor, jim cavanaugh. jim, this is what they re looking at, right? this is the information potentially that they have to evaluate of the purported shooting. the number of shots. knowing you so well, jim, you were trying to listen to every detail of what was available in that piece of audio. what did you pull away from it? i pulled away, richard, that it s point shooting. it s not that is not rapid-fire, as quick as you can pull the trigger of a pistol, if it is a semiautomatic pistol. could be a long gun. it definioesn t seem to be a lo gun. would be louder to me. the shots are not as fast as you can pull the trigger. what it tells me is he is aiming or point shooting. in other words, pointing a gun at a target, pulls the trigger,
how do you get a gun in something like this? well, as jim is saying, you can get a gun literally in just about any bar, restaurant, store. you don t anticipate that s going to happen here. but, you know, there are gamers who are really good at this, and there are some people that are think they re better than they really are, and the idea of losing it s like someone who is kicked out of college academically and come back and shoot up the college. or shoot up the high school. this may well have risen to that level for this supposed gamer, whoever this individual was. that, again, the idea of losing and the idea of someone perhaps telling him how bad he was, right to his face, was something that he just couldn t handle. you know, these are challenges today. our ability to manage anger, frustration, rage, so many times people just turn to the tip of a gun instead of the tip of their tongue to just talk it out. you know, the potential
and, you know, federal agent all over the country, i ve seen too many bar fight scenarios happen, situations in places where there s alcohol served and a person leaves and comes back with a gun and shoots. right. you know, it s countless. it s so countless. there s country songs written about these kind of things, as bad as they are. so, you know, it wouldn t be that unusual, either, for someone to be involved in the event, and then leave and come back. but we don t have any information as to why this particular event is targeted. we don t know. but the sheriff and the detectives at jacksonville do know. i think they already know. they have his wallet. they have probably some early indications of the motivation. and they re going to have to go to his home, whether it s local or another state, and search do a search warrant for his computers, guns, everything he s got. i want to bring in one of your fellow colleagues in this
