Liquor license OK’d in Winter Harbor WINTER HARBOR — The Gallery, a bar and lounge that will be taking up shop at 361 Main St., was unanimously given the green light to operate with a liquor license from the town’s Board of Selectmen following a public hearing Tuesday night.  Sarah and Jesse Christensen, owners of The Pickled Wrinkle in Birch Harbor, own the Main Street building and were present to answer questions from abutters and community members. The couple’s friend, Troy Lorenz, will be operating the establishment, which the Christensens said is slated to open June 1. “I think [The Gallery] would be a wonderful addition to the town,” board Chairwoman Kylie Bragdon said.

Spilled recycled plastic and other byproduct packed for delivery to the Penobscot Energy Recovery Company has been washing up on the island in Searsport. Recently, the material bound for the energy plant in Orrington fell into the sea during an offload. We were pretty horrified, Lang said. He explained that he heard some of the arriving material which was unrecyclable tailings from a commercial recycling program, had ended up on the island this past Wednesday, though PERC does not oversee that offload.
