Lions reportedly will interview Rams director of college scouting Brad Holmes for GM job

Brad Holmes, the Los Angeles Rams’ director of college scouting, is expected to interview for the Lions’ general manager opening according to ESPN. Holmes, a longtime Atlanta resident, also is a candidate for the Falcons job according to the report.
Holmes has spent the last 18 years climbing the ladder with the Rams. He’s served the last eight seasons as the director of college scouting, and had a key role in selecting two-time NFL defensive player of the year Aaron Donald, 2017 offensive player of the year running back Todd Gurley and two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Jared Goff.

As part of their process of finding a new general manager, Detroit Lions owner Sheila Ford Hamp and team president Rod Wood interviewed internal candidates Kyle O Brien, Lance Newmark and Rob Lohman last week.
This week, the team began interviewing external candidates and completed an interview with Louis Riddick.
Riddick played in the NFL for seven years as a safety. He was a pro scout for Washington for four years before being promoted to director of pro personnel. He then joined the Philadelphia Eagles organization as a pro scout in 2008, and was promoted to director of pro personnel in 2010. He s currently an analyst for ESPN s coverage of Monday Night Football.

ALLEN PARK A lot of people wanted the Detroit Lions to draft a quarterback this year. But the Lions believed they were close to a breakthrough, left Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia in place to make another run at it, and plugged the hole at cornerback rather than planning for the future at quarterback.

ALLEN PARK The Detroit Lions will interview current Monday Night Football analyst Louis Riddick for their general manager position, ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen report.
Riddick will interview for the open job in Houston on Wednesday and then in Detroit on Friday. He’s most recognizable for his time during draft season and on Monday nights on the worldwide leader. But it’s worth noting he comes with more than a decade of scouting and experience within pro personnel departments in Washington and Philadelphia. He also played safety in the league for six years for the Falcons, Browns and Raiders.
