COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 3 ranked Ohio State men’s tennis team will play host to the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Friday and Saturday inside the new Ty Tucker Tennis Center. The Buckeyes will take on Middle Tennessee State at 11 a.m. on Friday morning while Iowa and Virginia will clash at 2 p.m. The winners and losers will play on Saturday with the championship match set for approximately 3:30 p.m.
This is the 13th consecutive season the Buckeyes have hosted the weekend event. Ohio State is a perfect 24-0 in ITA Kickoff Weekend matched and has advanced to the ITA Indoor Team National Championships each season.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 3 Ohio State is set to open the 2021 tennis season this weekend by hosting the Ohio State Invitational at the new Ty Tucker Tennis Center. The Buckeyes will host Big Ten rivals Illinois and Michigan.
The teams will contest singles and doubles matches throughout the weekend with no team scoring. Live video and live scoring will be available. There will be no public admission to this event.
These will be the first matches inside the phenomenal Ty Tucker Tennis Center. Ohio State will also host both the men’s and women’s ITA Kickoff events next weekend.
The Buckeyes return everyone from last year’s team that knocked-off a pair of No. 1 teams and was ranked No. 6 when the season was halted. Senior John McNally and sophomores Cannon Kingsley and Robert Cash were All-Americans last season and Kingsley was named the national Freshman of the Year.
