Seven people sent to prison this year for crimes in Wiltshire - Pictures from Wiltshire Police FROM robbery to running a cannabis farm, several people across Wiltshire have already faced justice this year, having been jailed for their roles in criminal activity across the county. Jailed in January: 1)
James Cherry, aged 28, of no fixed address in Swindon, was jailed for eight years and seven months after breaking a woman s jaw and robbing several shops. In 2020 Cherry robbed a series of shops in Swindon including a McColls shop, a pop-up shop in Cavendish Square, the Esso service station on Dorcan Way, the Lloyds Pharmacy in Park South and Superdrug in the town centre.
DETECTIVES have welcomed the jail sentence handed down to a Swindon cocaine dealer. Kyle Rigley, 28, was jailed for four years on Monday after he’d earlier admitted conspiracy to supply a class A drug. Det Sgt Neil Hilton, who led the investigation for Wiltshire Police’s organised crime squad, said: Rigley was one of the leaders of this Swindon-based operation selling cocaine. To reach people like this, further up the drug dealing chain, is a good result. This sentencing is the result of a lot of hard work on behalf of the team involving intelligence from members of the public and the local community.
A GANG flooded Swindon with cannabis and cocaine – even dealing the drugs further afield. The gang of six, three members of which have already been given more than 16 years’ worth of jail, supplied high purity cocaine and “designer” cannabis to dealers and directly to users. The conspiracy can now be reported, after the only member of the alleged gang to fight his case to trial after he was found not guilty of conspiring to supply cocaine.
The Bristol end Ashley Hunt and Nicholas Bullock, both 31, were the two at the Bristol end of the chain. Hunt was the link man – arranging drop-offs with Swindonian Kyle Rigley, 28. Bullock was the bagman; the man surveillance officers clocked handing over a shoebox-sized package to Jack Young, 29, and Kyle Rigley in Bristol on October 9, 2018.
