We begin with a terrifying close call here in new york today when a Delta Airlines jet landing in the middle of a snowstorm careened off the runway and came within feet of sliding into the icy waters of fleshing bay. It happened late this morning at laguardia airport. Thankfully the passengers and crew all escaped alive despite the plane suffering significant damage. The airport was closed for hours, flights disrupted. Tonight, as we take a live look at the plane still off the edge of the runway the ntsb is on the scene. The questions have begun starting with the runway conditions at the time and what the pilot was told. Tom costello is working the story for us. He has late details. Facing a growing opposition from inside and outside the state, and a threat to its economy, indianas governor in an apparent response to glaring headlines like this in the Indianapolis Star has called for a change to the controversial law that some believe is worded in such a way it opens the door to legalized discrimination. While arguing that critics and some in the media have gotten it wrong, governor mike pence says he wants legislation on his desk this week that clearly spells out that the religious freedom law does not allow businesses to discriminate. As indiana calms the uproar tonight, another state may be ready to step into the fray with its own law. Gabe gutierrez has the story tonight.
