In 2008, Kyle Pahlow and Nick Zegel premiered their 16mm passion project ‘A Pleasant Surprise’ to a sold-out crowd at the Paramount Theater in Asbury Park, NJ, as a part of the now-defunct New York Surf Film Festival in Tribeca, NY. They went on to sell out of their DVD copies, as well. So now, 12 years later, Nick and Kyle are giving their vision to the whole world.
“This feature-length East Coast surf film offers an honest look at the talents of a select group of surfers,” says Nick. “Three years in the making, ‘A Pleasant Surprise’ documents a world of contrast as daily changes in weather and waves prove to be all part of a larger picture; thumping beachbreaks, cold water and quick tropical storms are just a fraction of what you will find.”
