Another bad accident on Abaco highway on Saturday. ABACO| Bahamas Press is learning that there was another serious accident on the streets of Abaco Saturday afternoon. The driver of a light blue Nissan March flipped into bushes off the highway and into bushes. News of the incident hit the BP newsroom late Saturday but details of the condition of the driver and or passengers were not forthcoming. Anderson was taken to Northeast Regional Hospital in Kirksville and Steffen was taken to University Hospital in Columbia, both for treatment of serious injuries. A passenger in the Steffen car, 66 year old William Reynolds of Edina, was taken to Northeast Regional Hospital with minor injuries.   Two Clarence teenagers are hurt in a single vehicle crash on Shelby County Road 450 northwest of Shelbina at 5:10 p.m. Sunday.

Mitchell praised for his work as he announces retirement

12/16/2020 School Committee hears reasoning for COVID-19 closures CUMBERLAND – Bob Mitchell, the town’s superintendent of schools since 2015 and before that the assistant superintendent who arrived in the district in 2012, will retire effective June 30, 2021. School Committee members and others last week commended Mitchell for his good work in Cumberland, saying he’ll be missed. They also hinted at the stress involved with the job, particularly during the pandemic. Mitchell said there’s still plenty of work to be done, giving the school board his word that he’ll continue doing the job at 100 percent to the end. He said he’s been honored to do the work, later telling The Breeze that he’s “just tired” and it’s time.
