JACKSON, Tenn. Jackson State Community College announced Tuesday that a limited number of emergency relief grants are available to students who faced hardships that impacted their education during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The college says the grant will pay the tuition for up to two classes during the Summer 2021 semester.
Applicants must be a returning or continuing JSCC student, who due to COVID:
Dropped out of college; or
Completed fewer than 12 hours per semster; or
Failed a course
There are approximately 300 grants available that will be issued on a first come, first serve basis.
“We anticipate these grants to go quickly,” Dr. Kyle Barron, Vice President of Student Services stated. “Anyone interested in this opportunity should apply right away.”
February is Black History Month, so several Mississippi State University organizations, such as the Student Association and the Holmes Cultural Diversity Center, have planned and orchestrated different events and exhibitions in order to remember and illuminate both the struggles and accomplishments of Black people in America.
These events, targeted at aiding Black students and telling stories of their histories, have occurred on campus or online almost everyday of the month. The month begins with the 28 Days of Service challenge hosted by the African American Studies program. These projects are geared toward serving the community through storytelling, visuals, conferences and more.

The study sought to assess the impact of home-sharing on residential house prices and rents using data from Airbnb listings from across the United States. Researchers found that in local neighborhoods with a lower share of owner-occupancy, Airbnb had a higher impact on rising housing prices and rents. In areas with a higher share of owner-occupancy, Airbnb had somewhat less of an impact on property prices and rents.
