The governor belongs Pakistan Muslim Leage (Nawaz) (PML-N) while the chief minister is from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party. The governor took the step of denotifying the chief minister in order to keep him from dissolving the assembly.
Imran Khan, addressing the participants via video link from his residence in Lahore, criticised the federal government for creating hurdles in the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly.
