it s south of downtown oklahoma city coming down i-40. shepard: it s eastbound on i-40 headed to downtown oklahoma city right at this moment. that s correct. shepard: so i-40 is an east and west highway. just to the south of it would be areas like moore, and oklahoma city is right on i-40. go on. yes, tornadoes beñind me, the worst of it is coming in to downtown, heavy rain. blowing winds. kathy, i m going to stop right here. and try to turn the car around õso i can see the tornado. shepard: we are looking at pictures now from kwtv and kotv, this is a general wide shot view of the area. we have not reachñd sunset yet, just a second, jeff, we have not reached sunset yet, you see this as dark, as if, you know, it look likes pitch black out there. the sunset officially has not happened. that is how thick and dense this
i did see two circulations still on the doppler radar here in the area i m located as well back to the west back over near norman. i have got a couple over the norman area as well. inbound outbound circulation on the west side of norman right now tracking southeastward and also a tornado developing on i-40. i do have a tornado developing based on doppler radar, a tornado just going to be west of shawnee and west of mccloud and i m going to is stop the car and get out and look. jeff, i want to tell you the picture that we are showing up on the screen right now is from kwtv just outside of oklahoma city. a lot of the city has lost power. a ton of lightning flashes go through there. also saw you a lot of the area that lost power which is to be expected with this, it certainly looks like major rotation is in the area. you keep on referencing something called dual pole. and this is a new thing out there and for people listening
that s just coming from one person i know in that area. if people have good ways people can get storm shelters in a more rapid fashion, send that to me and i will get it out. flooding very significant and widespread. getting reports in indiana, where we have numerous cars stranded. this coming from kwtv, in the oklahoma city area, significant flooding. it s really all along interstate 40, where the heaviest of the rain fell, goes to los angeles and cuts through the entire state of oklahoma, east-west. very significant flooding. you can see these pictures. flooding kills more people every year than any other phenomena, inland flooding. we saw flooding in arkansas day before yesterday and have not heard of reports of fatalities from flooding from this event. major flooding still going on, all kinds of areas with flash flood warnings.
