Pacina Retail, the company implicated in allegedly botching the KwaZulu-Natal National School Nutrition Programme, says it tried to engage with the education department before lawyers became involved in the debacle.
The MEC for education confirmed the two have parted ways. KZN is the largest recipient of the nutrition programme with a budget of more than R2 billion to cater to about 2.4 million pupils across 5 400 schools in the province.
