Grounded PIA Plane Returns to Islamabad Airport from Malaysia
The controversial Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft that had been grounded in Malaysia over a legal dispute has finally reached Islamabad International Airport with 173 passengers and crew members on board.
The Boeing 777 aircraft was returned to Pakistan via the commercial flight PK 895 from Kuala Lumpur on Friday.

It had previously been impounded for nearly two weeks by the Malaysian authorities due to a British court case over its lease.
PIA has reportedly reached an out-of-court agreement with the leasing firm, which is why the Malaysian court dismissed the case with the mutual consent of both parties and ordered for the immediate release of the plane.

The order was made by High Court judicial commissioner Atan Mustaffa Yussof Ahmad in proceedings this afternoon.
Lawyer Kwan Will Sen from Messrs Lim Chee Wee Partnership for PIA confirmed the decision today.
“The lessor, Peregrine Aviation Charlie Ltd, and PIA, have arrived at an amicable settlement of the dispute between them. Peregrine has agreed to withdraw its suit against PIA and for the injunction orders to be set aside.
“With this, the two Boeing aircraft operated by PIA would be released with immediate effect,” Kwan told

Kwan appeared with Joyce Lim while Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) and Malaysia Airports (Sepang) Sdn Bhd (MASSB) were represented by Shannon Rajan.

A Malaysian court on Wednesday ordered the immediate release of a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane that was seized by the Southeast Asian nation earlier this month over an ongoing dispute between the national flag carrier and the plane’s lessor.

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 30): AirAsia X Bhd (AAX) and AAX Leasing Two Ltd has applied to set aside the foreign judgement obtained by BOC Aviation Ltd in the High Court of Justice, Business and Property Courts of England and Wales in November, which is enforced in the Malaysian courts here on Dec 7.
The matter came up for case management before High Court deputy registrar Norazlin Othman today. She gave several directions for parties to file affidavits and fixed April 12 for the probable hearing of AAX and the other company s application.
BOC Aviation, which is represented by counsel Kwan Will Sen of Messrs Lim Chee Wee Partnership, is objecting to AAX s application to set aside the enforced judgement on the grounds that there is no restraining order obtained by the airline, as it sought a scheme hearing at another High Court.
