A station house officer was sent to police lines on Monday following the death of a Muslim man who was allegedly beaten up by his neighbours in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar.
Tension prevailed in Kushinagar on Sunday when the body of Babar, who had allegedly been killed by members of his own community for celebrating BJP's win in elections, was brought to his home. His family refused to perform the last rites unless those responsible for the youth's death were punished.
Four children have died in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar. Following the deaths, their families claimed that they died after consuming 'poisonous' toffees. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
