Retired Maj. Gen. Kurt Stein is taking a new vaccine designed to protect against COVID-19 as part of a clinical trial at Fort Bragg.
Ask him why, and he has a question of his own: “My response is, why not?”
He said he has encountered people skeptical of the vaccine, including members of his own family.
“I decided to take part, not just for myself, I mean obviously I’m getting up there in age,” said Stein, who is 62. “But more so for the trial. Our country needs more vaccines out there than we have.”
Stein is taking part in the Phase 3 clinical trials for a vaccine designed by Novavax. The trial is open to military and connected beneficiaries of Fort Bragg’s Military Health System and Tricare and is being conducted by Womack Army Medical Center.
