JONO COLEMAN: 1956 - 2021
Jonathan Harry Coleman, born 20 February 1956 in Hackney, East London of Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry, was turning heads from his earliest days in the workforce. Voice impressionist Keith Scott remembers being summoned, in June 1977, to a recording session for the Sydney advertising agency which employed the 22-year-old apprentice copywriter.
“He hired me, Kev Golsby and Ross Higgins, along with Jacki Weaver and the sweet Helen Morse, to do some crazy voices for a stack of Spectrum Jeans radio commercials and they were the old style of comedy ads with funny jokes and zany send-ups of superheroes.”
