Emergency services were called to Kurrawa Beach in Broadbeach about 10.15pm after a woman s body washed up on the beach. The search for the man resumed early on Friday morning, with the Rescue 500 Helicopter assisting. The search for a man missing off Broadbeach is set to resume at 5AM.

The pair, who were captured in CCTV footage, entered the water on Old Burleigh Road at Broadbeach about 9.20pm on Thursday. Speaking to media on Friday, acting Inspector John Diggle warned that “we don’t expect to find anybody alive”. Police were alerted that an unconscious woman was on the beach at 10.15pm. The woman was found dead by emergency services on arrival.
