A British university has given back four spears taken more than 250 years ago from an aboriginal community in Australia by explorer Captain James Cook.

Four spears belonging to the Aboriginal Australians have been returned to the Indigenous community after being taken by Captain Cook in 1770 and presented to Trinity College in Cambridge.
The Gweagal spears were taken in 1770 when the Endeavour arrived at Botany Bay in the first meeting between the British and the Indigenous Gweagal people of Kamay.
The four weapons were presented in the Wren Library at Cambridge University s Trinity College for the historic day , with the three flags of Australia displayed at the front of the room.
