A PROPAGANDA war in northern Iraq’s autonomous Kurdish region is intensifying, critics warned today, as the government-controlled media seeks to deflect blame for a popular uprising.
News outlets and journalists associated with the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) have been accused of smearing the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) by blaming its supporters for the unrest sweeping the region.
In the latest piece of “misinformation,” the Peoples Protection Units (YPG) has been blamed for a number of attacks, including one on a security post in the disputed area of Kirkuk today, while the Deputy Minister of Peshmerga claimed that the Syrian Kurdish militia had ambushed a checkpoint in Amedi on Monday.
