“It all comes back to the horizon of investing. As long as you are comfortable with the medium- to long-term investment horizon and you are comfortable with the sectors and companies financials, then there is no reason for anybody to kind of look at exit. One should continue to hold on to good quality stocks.”
“High-end consumption will probably continue to do well. Lower-end consumption is something that we have to watch out for if the festival season lends some kind of help. Till then it will remain on a wait and watch mode. Of course, the other thing that we keep discussing is the whole valuation challenge of the Indian market.”
The IT sector is unlikely to see any surprises in terms of positive or negative movement. The recent market correction was expected after a sharp rally in September. Bansal believes that the IT sector will follow the market s consolidation trend. As for the upcoming earnings season, Bansal does not anticipate any surprises for the IT sector. In terms of other sectors, he mentions that the festival season and monsoon will impact automobile demand, and highlights the potential benefits for housing finance companies from a government housing loan interest subsidy scheme.
"The market cannot sustain continuous upward movement as valuations become unaffordable and fresh money struggles to find comfort. The market always reaches a milestone and then provides opportunities for investors. In such slow markets, short-term traders can find opportunities through technical chart patterns, while medium-term investors can benefit from quarterly results and macroeconomic developments. "
"On 20th July, we had the peak of the market, Nifty just fell short of touching 20,000 and came back from there. In the last 20 days, we have been in a correction to a flat movement of the market. In fact, if we expand this horizon slightly longer, October 2021 is when we were at 18,500 on Nifty and today at around 19,500. That is hardly 6-7% move in more than 20 months. So that is the position. It is reflecting a consolidation that has been happening."
