National Indigenous Television (NITV) has announced the commissioning of Barrumbi Kids, with major production investment from Screen Australia. Barrumbi.

Set to premiere in 2022, the 10 x 30-minute live-actioner stars two kids growing up in a remote community who learn what it means to live in Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal cultures through their everyday adventures.
Barrumbi Kids is based on a same-name tween-skewing book series by Australian author Leonie Norrington. Tamarind’s Danielle MacLean (
Grace Beside Me), Ambience’s Monica O’Brien (
Drop Dead Weird) and freelance creator Julia Morris (
Kundirri The Life) are producing the series together, with Grant Brown, Deb Brown and Ismail Khan (pictured left to right) on board as directors.
