敏盛醫院研究副院長江坤俊說明，新冠病毒主要是攻擊肺部，嚴重的話可能會引發後遺症「菜瓜布肺」，也就是「肺部纖維化」。他進一步解釋，當我們受傷時，傷口會結疤，肺部受傷的話也一樣會結疤；當新冠病毒攻擊肺部時，肺部受傷結疤就會纖維化，嚴重纖維化肺部就會變硬，此時，肺會喪失很多功能，造成氣體交換困難；當肺部沒辦法像平常一樣的擴張，吸進來的氧氣自然就會變少。
