Dimapur, Aug. 21 (EMN): The centenary celebration of ‘Don Bosco- 100 years with the people of Northeast India’, which commenced from August 16, concluded on Sunday at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in Wokha. An update from the centenary celebration organising committee informed that the grand finale celebration was held with the advisor of Law and Justice, Dr. Chumben Murry, and the deputy commissioner of Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively. The chief guest, in his address, stated that through the tremendous efforts of the pioneers of Don Bosco, many people have been able to fulfill and live their dreams. Murry appreciated the Don Bosco family for their sacrifice and efforts in establishing Don Bosco institutions in Northeast India despite hardships and challenges. MOTIHARI: Nine of the 12 named accused in Nepal girl’s rape and murder case under Kundawa Chainpur police station surrendered in the court of additional chief judicial magistrate of Motihari on Saturday. Main accused Siyaram Saha and his son Vinay Saha were arrested on February 3. One accused is still on the run.
East Champaran SP Navin Chandra Jha said the nine accused were sent to jail. They would be taken on remand for interrogation.
The 12-year-old Nepal girl was gang-raped on January 21 by four persons, including Vinay and his father Siyaram, in whose house at Kundawa Chainpur market the victim lived on rent with her family and the crime was committed. Later, the girl was strangled and her body was burned on January 21 night after keeping her parents and brother hostage in her rented room.

MOTIHARI/PATNA: A 12-year-old Nepal girl was gang-raped, murdered and cremated by the accused after keeping her parents hostage in East Champaran district. The matter came to light after an audio clip of the SHO concerned directing the accused to cremate the body immediately went viral.
East Champaran SP Navin Chandra Jha, who constituted an special investigation team (SIT) on Sunday, said Kundwa Chainpur police station SHO Sanjiv Kumar Ranjan has been suspended on the charges of dereliction of duty and helping the accused in suppressing the crime. Houseowner Siyaram Sah and his son Vinay Sah, the prime accused in the case, have been arrested. The SP said the audio was being examined.
