gps tracker prisoners: In a first in India, Odisha plans to fit GPS tracking device on undertrial prisoners, allow them to stay home

Odisha may become the first state in India to use GPS-enabled tracking devices for under-trial prisoners facing non-heinous charges. The devices, costing between Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000, can be attached to the ankle and alert law enforcement if the undertrial ventures beyond authorized limits. The technology can also be used to manage high-risk criminals within prisons.
