facing criticism over the speakership drama. he told reporters that he was feeling confident about tonight s vote. the rules package, there s nothing controversial. there s only one change. that relates to the motion to vacate. it s not controversial. we voted on it once already and i expect it to pass. we ll find out in a couple hours. the first vote starts at 6:30. neil? neil: do they expect a bumpy ride like this? everybody was kum ba ya. yeah, you ll have people that are going to speak out and make their voices and opinions known. we dealt with that with a democratic-controlled house in the last two years. they had a slim that you rety as well. we saw progressives use their leverage with nancy pelosi. so i think you ll expect some of that this year. neil: all right.
crime was, especially if you re african-american. i m not worried about african-americans across this country. i ve been playing. i probably lost some friends. here s my message. pass me up if you re calling me and saying, you or anybody else, or you re at work saying, oh, how are you? oh, i have black friends. pacify me with that. at the end of the day, if you can say that, then right then you should say, and what happened in buffalo, new york and what happens across the country with racists, with white supremacy is wrong. and if you don t say that, find other friends. leave me alone. i don t want to come to your church. i don t want a kum-ba-ya. i don t want to do a prayer meaning in which we shall overcome. i will overcome and our people will overcome. if you don t stand up to whoever is watching, whoever is
together on infrastructure. you know, a lot of other things that are out there, can he offer specifics about that? infrastructure, opioid epidemic he s been president for two years. has he ever focused on anything for more than a couple of days in a sustained way? i raise it as a question. he has not. especially since on which he needs the other party s help. i think that really highlights the big challenge that he has, is all the credibility he has skwaquandere no matter what he says tonight, it s difficult for the politicians on capitol hill or the american public to believe that s something he s committed to and is going to stick to. he could give all the specifics in the world, he could sing kum-ba-ya and say, nancy, i love you, i know i m not going to get my wall, let s talk. that would be the best scenario to come through tomorrow and do what he says he s going to do.
been able to figure out his lane vis-a-vis elizabeth warren, vis-a-vis kamala harris. he s been very differential, for instance, to other republican members on that committee, something you wouldn t necessarily hear from kamala harris. he s got to figure out if this love message, i think, is right for moment or if it s too much of a retread of what we saw from obama. and you mentioned that. and the thing is, a lot of liberals, black liberals in particular, aren t too lahappy retrospect with the way obama played things. if you get everybody in a room and everybody sort of sings kum-ba-ya, you saw that that necessarily didn t work. in the background, you saw a lot of jockeying particularly in south carolina for aids. people who were going to stop the campaign. the sanders people thought they were going to go with him. they saw him on the issue of criminal justice which is going to be such a lightning rod issue, particularly for these
