Daltonganj: Naval sailor Suraj Kumar Dubey (27), who was murdered at Palghar in Maharashtra on Friday, was laid to rest on Monday at his village in Palamu. Officers from Navy, local administration and scores of villagers took part gave an emotional farewell to the slain sailor at the burning ghat on the banks of Koyal river.
Talking to media persons after the cremation, Kulbul Dubey, the mukhiya of Purabdeeha panchayat, said, Dubey hailed from our village and the brave navy sailor deserved to be given the status of a martyr. He was tortured to death by the culprits in such a gruesome manner that reminds one of medievalistic barbarism and brutality.
