Austria To Launch Terrorism Offender Registry To Minimize Risk of Attacks

Thomas Kronsteiner/Getty Images 27 May 2021 The Austrian government will create a terrorist offenders register that will see those convicted of terror offences placed on the registry for life. Austrian Interior Minister Karl Nehammer and Justice Minister Alma Zadic announced the terrorism registry on Wednesday, which is part of a major overhaul of the country’s anti-terrorism measures. The registry is designed much like a sex offender registry and will see those convicted of terrorist offences placed on the registry for life. The records could help to better identify terrorists in order to mitigate the risk of potential terror attacks in the future,
