Over 150 people donated items to send to a reservation down in Marty, South Dakota.

LINCOLN, NE (KLKN) – Channel 8 has an update on the story we brought you on Friday. A Local nonprofit and other groups made a trip to South Dakota over the weekend to deliver food to a reservation struggling with hunger.
“When we got there, there was lots of homes that were boarded up like windows and doors,” 1humanrace founder Patrick Schauer said. “Some of them were inhabited, some of them didn’t have any utilities. Things like that.”
Music Without Borders, Kualdom Creations and 1humanrace delivered a 20-foot truck load of food, toiletries, cleaning supplies and other donations to the Ihanktuwan Oyate Reservation over the weekend. The reservation is part of the Yankton Sioux Tribe.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A group of nonprofits will head to Marty, South Dakota on Saturday. It’s all an effort to help address the hunger crisis on reservations.
“They are facing a high COVID death rate and our literally starving to death,” 1humanrace founder Patrick Schauer said. “It’s a little reservation of 600. I had a friend up north who asked if I could help and I said absolutely.”
